For this blog post I will be writing about something a little more personal. On Wednesday  my wife Shelley will be moving to the third trimester. We are super excited to be that much closer to having a child of our own. Still, we know that time will move a little bit slower from here on out.

Here are some of the baby's milestones that we have to look forward to in the third trimester:

BABY's Development:

Week 28- Baby's eyes open: The babies eyelids have formed and can open. Also, the baby has started to form eyelashes. Baby is gaining weight which helps smooth out it's wrinkly little body. Healthy babies born this week have a 90% chance of survival.

Week 29- Bone development: Baby's bones are fully formed, but still soft and bendable.

Week 28: Babies eyes can open wideWeek 30- Eyes wide open: Baby's eyes are open a good part of the time. Baby could be developing hair (Maybe not if dad is bald, like me!). Also, red blood cells start to form in the bone marrow.

Week 31- Nervous: Baby's central nervous system has developed to the point that it can control it's body temperature.

Week 32- Breathing practice begins: Though the lungs are not fully developed, baby has started it's breathing practice. Also baby's toenails are visible

Your baby will start to gain weight rapidlyWeek 33- Baby sees the light: Baby's pupils can now constrict, dilate and detect light entering the eyes.

Week 34- Cut those nails: Baby's nails have now reached it's fingertips.

Week 35- It's getting tight in here: Baby's limbs are getting chubby. Your baby will start putting on weight soon.

Baby needs nourishment!

Week 36- Lay off I'm starving!: Baby is starting to put on larger amounts of weight and cramped conditions are making it hard to punch or kick. You should feel more stretches and rolls instead.

Week 37- Full term: Baby's organs are ready to function on their own. It might descend into the head-down position to prepare for birth.

Week 38- Baby develops a firm grasp: Are you ready for the hair pulling and ear ring grabbing? Your baby is. After birth a natural reaction is for baby to grab and hold on.

Congratulations on your new babyWeek 39- Getting nutrients: The placenta continues to supply your baby with antibodies that will help fight infection after birth. If you breast-feed your baby, your milk will provide additional antibodies.

Week 40- Nailed it!!!!- Congrats you are here... Maybe. However, don't be alarmed if your due date comes and goes without a peep. It is just as normal to deliver 2-3 weeks after the date as it is to deliver 2-3 weeks before.
